Kudos to parks & rec

Wednesday, January 1, 2014

Dear editor:

On Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, a large group of people from Mountain Home went to see a matinee performance of "The Nutcracker" in Boise.

This wonderful holiday experience was offered through the efforts of our own parks and recreation office. The $45 per person charge included perfect seats for the performance at the Morrison Center, a fondue eating experience at The Melting Pot restaurant after the matinee, and door-to-door van service from the parks and rec office to the venues in Boise, and return.

This was the day after the big snow on Friday. Was our special trip canceled? Nope. When we arrived at parks and rec, two vans were ready to go. The trip was comfortable and worry-free, thanks to the two drivers (Crystal and Darcy) who drove carefully and knew exactly where they were going.

We do not know who at parks and rec came up with this unique holiday treat, but he or she deserves a huge round of applause. We hope this will become a traditional yearly "happening" for Mountain Home.

Once again, those angels at parks and rec earn another star for enriching all aspects of life here in this small city.

We wish every one of those hard-working angels a happy New Year.

Sandy and Earl Pitts
