Lady Tigers fall in season debut

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers opened their 2013-14 girls basketball season at home against Mountain View Saturday night, losing to the Lady Mavericks 73-23 in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.

"We played a really good team with probably the best player in the state and were simply overmatched," said Mountain Home girls basketball coach Brent Keener.

Mountain View shot out to a 30-2 first quarter lead and led 48-11 at halftime. It was 63-18 after three, and, with a running clock in the fourth quarter, ended up 73-23 Mountain View.

Jacci Cristobal led Mountain Home scoring with 11 points. Mattie Bennett scored five, Tracey Gordon four, Whitney Sandberg two and Sable Lohmeier one. Destiny Slocum led Mountain View with 23 points.

Mountain Home has a busy week of basketball this week.

The Lady Tigers traveled to Capital High in Boise on Tuesday night before they open conference play at Middleton today, Nov. 20. They host Kuna in conference play Friday night.
