Ron Hiddleston

Ronal "Ron" Hiddleston, 74, of Mountain Home, passed away on Nov. 14, 2013, at his home.

A viewing will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, and burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home.

Ron was born in Bristow, Okla., on March 21, 1939, to C. L. "Doc" and Iona Hiddleston. In 1947, Ron and his mother, Iona, moved to Murtaugh, Idaho, where they joined Doc, who had taken a job with Denton Drilling. Later that year, Doc started his own company and moved it to Rupert in 1953.

Ron graduated in 1957 from Minico High School and went on to Utah State University on a football scholarship. After his first year, he transferred to Idaho State University.

He married Marvelene Hammond, his high school sweetheart, in 1959, and together they had three sons, Mike, Mark and Matthew.

In 1961, he bought a cable tool rig and a work truck to become a partner with his father in Hiddleston & Son, Inc.

He loved his work and was active in promoting the groundwater industry. He served two separate terms as president of the Idaho Ground Water Association and was later honored with a lifetime membership. He also served on the board of the National Ground Water Association (NGWA) and later was elected president of the association. In 1999 ,the NGWA presented Ron with the prestigious Oliver Award for his outstanding contributions to the groundwater industry.

Ron was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rites, the York Rites and a Shriner. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #2276.

Outside of work, Ron loved to fly and was a member of the Airplane Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA).

He had a passion for sporting clays and was a member of the National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA). He worked his way up to the Masters Class in the NSCA national tournaments.

He will always be remembered as a caring and generous husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will also be remembered for being passionate about everything he did and for living life his way.

He is survived by his wife, Marvelene, his son, Mark, and his wife, Marnie, and their four children, Brooke, Evan, Elisha and Isaac, his son, Matthew, and his partner, Becky, and their son, Shane ,and his daughter, Michelle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest son, Mike.
