George V. Withers, 83, of Hammett, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at a Boise hospital.

He passed in the company of his beloved wife, Mary, his children and his best friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

George was born on July 2, 1930, in Greeley, Colo., the son of Solon F. and Ollie F. Withers. He moved to Mountain Home in 1936.

He married Mary E. Burgman on Feb. 17, 1954, and together they had two children, Bill and LeeAnn.

George resided in Elmore County for 74 years and 50 of those years in Hammett. He was a rancher and did custom combining, which bought them the ranch.

He served on the Soil Conservation Board and the ASC Board for 30 years and the King Hill Irrigation District Board for 33 years.

George is survived by his wife, Mary, of Hammett, his son, Bill, and his wife, Julie Withers, of Nampa, his daughter, Lee Ann, and her husband, Bud Budinger, of Payson, Ariz, his brothers, Busther Withers of Sandpoint, Jean Charles and his wife, Vivian Withers, of Deer Park, Wash., and his sister, Thelma ("Toni") and her husband, Paul Loll, of Mountain Home, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Helen, and brothers Solon and Joey.
