Martha Gardner

Martha Ruth Gardner, 88, of Mountain Home, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at a Mountain Home care center.

Services will be held at a later date. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Martha was born March 2, 1925, in Decatur, Ill., the daughter of Henry J. and Ilal (Sellers) Schepper.

Upon completing 12 years of education, Martha met and married John Gardner on June 20, 1944, after meeting him on a blind date.

Martha enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing with John and collecting crackle glass items.

Martha is survived by: her son, Jim, and his friend, Donna Carle, her son, Bill Gardner, all of Mountain Home, two daughters, Gail Ferguson of Long Beach, Wash., and Nat Gardner of Anchorage, Alaska, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and her brother Jack and his wife, Linda Schepper, of Decatur, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by both her parents and her husband, John.
