Clarance Janousek

Clarance Donald Janousek, 84, of Bruneau, formerly of Boise, passed away at home on Oct. 31, 2013.

Clarance and his twin sister, Clara Dolores, were born on Aug. 19, 1929, in Nampa, the ninth and tenth children of Joseph and Anna (Urban) Janousek.

The family lived in Smith Prairie, Hagerman, Glenns Ferry and finally ended up in Mountain Home where he graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1948.

He worked on construction projects, including Hood Pipe Line and Mountain Home Air Base, and he also worked in production marketing administration in Elmore and Butte counties.

Clarance served in the U.S. Army during the Korea War from 1951 to 1953.

Clarance married Beckie Jean Ramsey on Aug. 19, 1957.

Shortly after, he decided to go back to school and graduated from Idaho State University in 1962 with a bachelor of science degree in education. In 1968, he took a master's degree in guidance and counseling from Idaho State University.

He was employed by the Boise School District for 30 years before retiring in 1992.

He was a member of the Local and National Education Association, Past Exalter Ruler and a life member of the Boise Elks Lodge #310, past loan officer for Capital Educators Credit Union, Cub Scout Master and district committee chairman for both Cub Scouts and Boys Scouts.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, working in his shop, yard-selling and family gatherings.

Clarance is survived by his wife of 56 years, son Jay Janousek and wife Stephanie, daughter Jana Iverson, grandsons Gavin and Kyle Iverson and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers (Stanley, George, Otto, Joseph, Virgil) and four sisters (Mildred Riggs, Lucille Mitchell, Dorothy Janousek and Dolores Myles).

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Rost Funeral Home in Mountain Home, with viewing before the funeral commencing at 8:30 a.m.

After the funeral, a lunch will be served at the American Legion Hall in Mountain Home.

Graveside services will held at Terrace Lawn Cemetery in Boise at 3 p.m.

The family would like to thank Southwest Advanced Care Hospital and their staff and Legacy Hospice for the care that Clarance received over the last two months. A heartfelt thanks goes to our family and friends for the love and support over the last few weeks.
