Philip Martin Tait, 61, of Grangeville, Idaho, formerly of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Lincoln, Mich., passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, with family and loved ones by his side. He was born Nov. 21, 1951, in Detroit, Mich.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Tait of Virginia, mother Barbara J. Von Myveimhyen of Panama, Fla.; Karen A. Kent of Narragansett, R.I.; Marjorie K. Tait of St. Johns, Mich.; Dorothy A. Frederick of Grayling, Mich.; cousin and hunting buddy Charles (Butch) Tait of Lincoln, Mich.; and beloved partner Judy Stapelton of Grangeville. He was preceded in death by his son, Adam M. Tait of Mountain Home, and father, Wm. Ralph Tait of Mikado, Mich.

Phil had lived in Mountain Home for over 20 years. Some of his last thoughts were of the good times with friends of the area and helpful support they had given him.

Phil had a tender heart that touched many people. He enjoyed the beauty of the great outdoors and the challenge of hunting the high ridges of the mountains looking for that trophy elk or white tail deer, which reflected in his great story telling.

He had many interests, from fishing mountain streams, trapping, perfecting his recipes, collecting nostalgic antiques, working with wood and tending his garden and fruit trees.
