The Lady Tigers hosted Kuna in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium last Tuesday night and had their chances, but lost in four sets to the Lady Kavemen, three games to one.

Mountain Home fell behind in the first set, but battled back to go on a 10-2 run and win 25-22.

The second set saw the Lady Tigers lead early, but the score went back and forth, with 10 lead changes and 11 ties. Up set point at 24-23, Mountain Home couldn't finish and lost 24-26.

In the third set, Mountain Home shot out to a 7-0 lead and led 10-2, but couldn't hold the lead and after eight lead changes and eight ties lost 22-25.

In the fourth set, after grabbing an early 1-0 lead, the Lady Tigers fell behind, and except for three ties, the last at 10-10, were outscored 15-6 to lose 16-25.

"We talked a lot about mental, especially cleaning up our passes, and everything else falls in place. Kuna's a very disciplined team -- they play tough defense, and we just had some roller coaster moments. It was a good match to learn from."

Selena Foster had 19 kills, nine digs, an ace and an assist. Dakota Dean had 24 digs, two aces and four assists; Janay Yulis had five kills, three aces, two blocks and a dig; Ksyenya Peterson had 33 assists.

It took five sets, but the Mountain Home Lady Tigers won for the fourth time in their last five tries in conference volleyball, downing Emmett Thursday night in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium at Mountain Home High School.

The Lady Tigers came up short, 21-25, in the first set, but bounced back to win the second set 25-22 and the third set 25-16.

Emmett came back to force a fifth set by outlasting the Lady Tigers, 25-22, but Mountain Home blitzed the Lady Huskies 15-2 in the fifth and deciding set.

"I'm very pleased to come out with the win," said Coach Peterson. "Our hitting errors were higher than normal, which caused the five-set match, so we'll be working on that this weekend heading into our last regular season match against Bishop Kelly next week."

Selena Foster had 17 kills and four aces. Jacci Cristobal had 15 kills, Janay Yulis had five kills, 10 aces and seven blocks, Sable Lohmeier had seven kills and Ksyenya Peterson had 48 assists.

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers host Bishop Kelly tonight, Oct. 16, for Senior Night. The District III 4A Volleyball Tournament starts Oct. 21.
