Absentee voting begins Tuesday

Elmore County will begin absentee voting Tuesday for the Nov. 5 election.

The voting will take place in person at the county courthouse from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by mailing an absentee ballot. Absentee voting will end at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1.

Absentee ballots will be mailed to eligible registered voters if the voter submits a written and personally signed request for an absentee ballot. The absentee ballot request must include the voter's printed name, current physical address, mailing address (if different from physical address) and the voter's signature.

Absentee ballot requests must be received by the Elmore County Election Department by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Only city council elections in Mountain Home and Glenns Ferry are being contested in the county for this election.

In order to vote in the election, eligible voters must live inside the City of Mountain Home or the City of Glenns Ferry, as appropriate.

Same-day voter registration is available. The voter must show photo identification and show proof of his or her current address.

All voters must show photo identification before a ballot can be issued. Any voter who is not able to show photo identification will be required to fill out a Personal Identification Affidavit before being issued a ballot.
