The Mountain Home Tiger boys soccer squad started off the week right last week, handing the Bishop Kelly Knights their first loss of the season.

The week also saw them suffer a loss and battle to a tie.

Mountain Home 3, Bishop Kelly 1

The Tigers handed Bishop Kelly their first loss of the season last Monday, downing the Knights 3-1 at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.

Keko Sanchez scored two goals and Juan Sanchez added another. Jesus Araujo had an assist.

Jack Richelieu had nine saves on goal.

"It was a great win," said Tiger boys soccer coach Jay Lockett after the game. "We deserved it. We dominated. I think we controlled the game from the get-go.

"The past three games we've been on a roll, and this team (Bishop Kelly) was undefeated -- they were number one in the state -- so it was a big win for us. It put us on the map."

Columbia 1, Mountain Home 0

"We were not ready to play," lamented Coach Lockett after Wednesday's 1-0 loss at Columbia.

Jack Richelieu had 11 saves on goal for the Tigers against Columbia.

Tigers 0, Hawks 0

The Tigers traveled to Skyview last Thursday and battled the Hawks to a scoreless tie.

"It was a good defensive battle," said Coach Lockett after the game.

Jack Richelieu had 13 saves on goal for the Tigers.

In this week's up-close look at the Mountain Home Tigers boys soccer team, we look at two more members of the 2013 Tiger boys soccer team.

Alexander Dominguez

Alexander Dominguez is a junior outside wing for the Tigers.

His parents are Juan and Juana Dominguez.

Alexander believes this year's squad is destined for greatness and credits its recent come-from-behind win over Middleton to be the key that has provided them the confidence that they can win it all.

"We had a game with Middleton, and we had a 2-0 deficit, and we stepped up our game and manage to come back and win that game, 4-3. That really showed what we could do -- we'd never come back from a deficit like that. Now we know we can do it."

Garrett McKenzie

Garrett McKenzie is a sophomore defender on the Tigers

He is the son of Lori and Victor McKenzie.

Garrett is excited about the fire that this year's Tiger squad has and said it showed as they handed Bishop Kelly their first loss.

"We work together as a team with our intensity, and then we got our first goal, which was really a blow to them, and they got down, and then we just rode that confidence from there."
