Geraldyne Mae (Wetzel) Braye, long-time resident of Mountain Home, passed away on Oct. 5, 2013, at her residence at The Cottages in Mountain Home.

A celebration of Jeri's life will occur on Friday, Oct. 11, at 10:30 a.m., at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home.

Born Aug. 15, 1925, to parents Fredrick and Elsie Wetzel, in Nampa. Jeri, as she was known by both family and friends, attended grade school in Emmett. She attended junior high and graduated from Boise High School.

Jeri attended Northwest University in Chicago, where she obtained an education as a laboratory technician. Jeri worked as a lab technician for the Department of Defense where she worked for 29 years at Mountain Home AFB and Tachikawa AFB, Japan, retiring in 1986.

Jeri's love of life and family brought her three memorable marriages with children.

The first being the Uriel Collett father to Don, Lona Kay, Loren and Kelli. The family farmed and ranched in the Grand View Valley, where the children learned appreciation of hard work, love of family and respect for the land.

The second being Ray Nida, Sr., whom she met while he was still serving on active during with the U.S. Air Force. Jeri loved and cared deeply for Ray's children, Ray, Jr., Bobbie, and Richard, who all brought happiness and joy to her life. Life for Jeri and Ray was filled with love, travel, adventure and family.

The third and final marriage of Jeri's life was to William "Bill" Braye. Jeri loved and treasured Bill's children, Jim and Doug, and always looked forward to their visits.

Jeri and Bill's diverse common interests and social activities brought them together in the twilight of their lives. They greatly enjoyed one another's companionship and encouragement with their various undertakings.

From these special marriages and families there are multiple grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, who all were loved dearly by their grandmother.

Jeri loved to travel abroad, experiencing new cultures, places and things.

Jeri's interests included volunteering at the Mountain Home Senior Center and the Desert Mountain Visitor Center, jewelry making, lapidary work, sewing, knotting, crocheting, playing bridge, bird watching and camping or just being outdoors.
