Letter to the Editor

It's really the voters' fault

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

Dear editor:

I've never intended to write another letter as I've just about had it with everything and everybody, so maybe I'll just call this one sort of a "P.S."

As I write this, the Senate has enjoyed taking the last weekend OFF instead of working with the House Republicans, who will be blamed for everything anyway, just like Bush has, and I am reminded of something Ross Perot said to us while campaigning against Bush senior and Slick Willie: "If you want to know what's wrong with this country, go look in the mirror."

Perot, like Donald Trump, Herman Cain and other successful businessmen, knew that making bad investments, carrying dead weight and tolerating company theft, will soon put you out of business. Ross concluded that we the people are in charge here. The politicians work for us. Far too many folks today have been indoctrinated that it's the other way around. Perot basically reminded us that when you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

So there comes a time when we can no longer blame the politicians, including Obama.

They didn't vote themselves back into office. The public did.

We get to "hire and fire" every few years. If we're too stupid and institutionalized to FIRE the "company thieves, embezzlers and liars," we deserve no better than what's happening to us right now. And really, what has changed?

What's happening to this country, and what will continue to happen to this country, is exactly what happens when we submit to being obedient little brainwashed straight-ticket voters, and stop being Americans. When party comes before country, everything our founders fought and died for becomes a moot point.

I fervently blogged for a couple of years about the dangers of giving crooks a free pass just because they happen to be in the same party we are. As usual, I was the "minority."

Just like the politicians they worship, folks seem to be content to "blame the other side" and fight with each other. At $17 trillion in the hole and another debt ceiling fight coming, how is this all working for ya?

If the voting public is frustrated and stressed, they need only to follow Mr. Perot's advice and "look in that mirror."

Wanna BLAME somebody? He/she stands before you in your bathroom. If you folks out there voted to re-elect ANYBODY, at ANY LEVEL, you purely deserve whatever happens from this point on, because Obama didn't cause that to happen, Boenner didn't, Reid didn't, McCain didn't. YOU DID.

Oh, and you need to spend some time thinking up a good yam to tell your kids and grandkids when the time comes to pass on the torch, which will most likely be extinguished by then.
