Nadine Roberts serves up a hot cup of tea to a waiting youngster during the Fourth Annual American Girl Tea Party held Saturday at the Mountain Home Public Library.

Dozens of children and parents gathered at the library to participate in the formal event, which included hot tea and treats.

Proper manners and etiquette were the order of the day as the participants got a firsthand look at the level of formality associated with a traditional high tea. In many instances, it was the first time many of the children had been to a formal social event with a few of them admitting it was also the first time they had actually tasted tea.

Lucy Burnett, 3, sips a cup of tea during Saturday's social.
Having added milk and sugar to her cup, Madilyn Lutrell, 3, stirs her tea before taking a sip.
As the children waited for Saturday's event to begin, Madison Spencer, 7, took a minute to serve an imaginary cup of tea to her stuffed companion.
