Shawn Michael Olsen of Glenns Ferry died on Sept. 24, 2013, at the age of 55. A celebration of Shawn's life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at the Moose Hall in Glenns Ferry. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Shawn was born on April 20, 1958 in Idaho Falls. He spent much of his childhood on the island of Hawaii, and the remainder of his formative years in various places among the mountains of Idaho.

It was in the outdoors, on fishing streams and hunting trails, where Shawn felt most at home. After service in the United States Army, he returned to his beloved Idaho where he built his life as a hard worker and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Shawn found happiness in a variety of hobbies and was a skilled gardener, baker, sturgeon fisherman, and willow worker. He was a master storyteller and was able to get a laugh out of most folks.

Shawn is survived by the love of his life and partner of 24 years, Donna Harris of Glenns Ferry; his four kids, son Grant, of Buhl; son Nayland, of Portland, Ore.; daughter Sheila of San Diego, Calif.; stepson Jimmy of Boise; sister Jackie Wolfe of Mannan; brother Sheldon of Elko, Nev.; five stepsiblings; four grandchildren, including a granddaughter who is due in December, and all the neighborhood kids who enjoyed his sarcastic and caring nature.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Buhla Olsen; parents Jack Olsen and Sheila Carvalho; and brother Shannon Olsen.

Shawn's legacy is in the stories and jokes he charismatically shared as well as the charm and wit he inspired in all who knew him.

Memorial contributions can be made to his wife Donna, P.O. Box 803, Glenns Ferry, ID 83623.
