Soccer girls squad ties Lady Cougars
The Mountain Home Lady Tigers came away with a tie and a loss in conference soccer games last week, losing to Kuna before tying with Caldwell.
Kuna 6, Mountain Home 1
Mountain Home struggled to get its offense rolling last Monday when they lost to Kuna 6-1 in conference girls soccer at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.
"Kuna's got a good program this year and they're playing everybody pretty tough," said Mountain Home girls soccer coach Kent Ogaard in his post-game comments.
"We played them pretty respective, and I thought the first part of that game we played well. We had a little breakdown in some assignments after that, but some adjustments were made, and we'll continue to push forward."
Hannah Mode scored Mountain Home's lone goal.
Missy Jessup had 12 saves on goal.
Mountain Home 1, Caldwell 1
Mountain Home and Caldwell battled to a 1-1 tie last Wednesday in conference soccer at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.
Christa Lewis scored Mountain Home's goal late in the first half, while Caldwell scored its goal early in the second half. Missy Jessup had 12 saves on goal for the Lady Tigers.
"We'll take the tie," said Coach Ogaard after the game. "This team (Caldwell), the last we saw them, we took a loss by three, so we've become a better team, as have they.
While the Lady Tigers were satisfied taking the tie, "it's not the win we wanted," the coach added. "But we take it, and we get a point out of it, and most of the girls feel good about their play.
"I can't be any happier with the JV's play -- a 10-0 win -- and again we had some great help from some swingers that came up off the JV," the Lady Tigers coach added.
Mountain Home heads into this week 2-6-1 in conference action. They hosted Middleton on Tuesday and travel to Nampa on Thursday, Sept. 26.
