The Mountain Home Tigers split their conference boys soccer games last week, winning at Kuna, but losing at Caldwell.

Mountain Home 2, Kuna 0

The Mountain Home Tigers ended the first half of their conference boys soccer season the same way they started it -- with a win, downing Kuna 2-0 Monday at Kuna.

Keko Sanchez and Chance Llewellyn scored goals for Mountain Home. Juan Dominguez had an assist.

Jack Richelieu had five saves on goal as goal keeper for the Mountain Home squad.

"We're 5-2-1 in conference, which puts us in second place in the conference standings," said Tigers boys soccer coach Jay Lockett following the game. "We start the second time through the conference schedule, so now the fun begins."

Caldwell 3, Mountain Home 1

The Tigers lost the lead in the second half and fell to the Cougars at Caldwell last Thursday, 3-1. Abe Salinas scored Mountain Home's goal off an assist by Jesus Araujo. Jack Richelieu had 17 saves on goal.

"We played well. We just couldn't finish," said Coach Lockett after the game.

The Tigers were at Middleton on Monday and host Nampa today, Sept. 25.

In this week's up-close look at the Mountain Home Tiger boys soccer team, the Mountain Home News looks at two more members of the 2013 Tiger boys soccer team.

JACK RICHELIEU

Jack Richelieu is a senior goalkeeper for the Mountain Home Tigers.

He is the son of Susan and Rod Richelieu of Mountain Home.

Jack is having a successful season keeping the opponent's goals out of the net so far this year.

"We've had quite a few shutouts, which is good," said Jack, who was quick to point to his teammates for the success they are having this year. "It's definitely still a team effort."

Jack also stresses the closeness of the team as a huge part of their success this year.

"We've had a lot of team bonding this year. Most of us have played together for the past three years, so we're really coming together as a team."

Richelieu hopes the Tigers can work out all the kinks the second time through the schedule to get ready for the post season.

"Hopefully we can win a couple more that we lost before and get ready for district and then state."

JUAN SANCHEZ

Juan Sanchez is a senior center midfielder for the Tigers soccer squad.

He is the son of Sanjuana and Juan Sanchez of Mountain Home.

The teen admits that he's excited about this season and believes the team will put it all together.

"We started off slow, but our team bonding and our chemistry is starting to come together and we're playing a lot better together as a team," he said.

"A lot of us have been playing since our freshman year together, and that helps out a lot our chemistry and how we understand each other, even though here and then we have our little misunderstandings, but overall it's going well," Sanchez said

The teen indicated they will not be satisfied unless they finish high in the league standings going into the district tourney.

"One of our main goals we're looking for is to place off in the first two teams in the district so we can host districts this year and have a easier way up to state," Sanchez added.
