Lady Tigers falter against Caldwell, Skyview

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers had a tough week of conference volleyball, losing road matches at Caldwell and Skyview.

Caldwell 25, 25, 19, 25

Mountain Home 9, 21, 25, 19

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers dropped a conference volleyball match to Caldwell last Tuesday night, losing three games to one at Caldwell High School.

Mountain Home started slow, losing the first game 25-9. They played much closer the rest of the way, losing the second game 25-21 and wining the third game 25-19 before dropping the fourth game by the same 25-19 score.

"We started flat and struggled to muster any momentum," said Mountain Home volleyball coach Jill Peterson of the Caldwell match. "It was a disappointing loss because we didn't play anywhere near our potential."

Jacci Cristobal had 11 kills. Mattie Bennett had 10 kills and three serving aces for the Lady Tigers. Janay Yulis had four kills and six blocks, Dakota Dean had 25 digs and Ksyenya Peterson had 25 assists.

Skyview 25, 25, 25

Mountain Home 9, 6, 8

The Lady Tigers lost at Skyview Thursday night in three straight games, 25-9, 25-6 and 25-8.

"Skyview is a very talented, well-coached team," Coach Peterson said following the game. "My girls blocked aggressively and we got a lot of touches on well-hit balls."

Janay Yulis finished the evening with two kills and a block while Mattie Bennett had two kills for the Mountain Home squad.

The Lady Tigers were at Nampa Tuesday night and will be home against Columbia on Thursday evening.
