Lottye Carolyn Montrose, 89, died on Sept. 14, 2013, at Avamere Care Center in Boise, from natural causes.

She was born March 12, 1924, in McKenzie, Tenn. However, she always said her life didn't begin until she met Owen, the love of her life. They met in Washington, D.C., while they were serving in the Navy. When he saw her, he said to a friend "That's the girl I'm going to marry" and they were married a week later on March 16, 1946. Lottye was a file clerk at the Pentagon for the Navy. In 1949, they moved to Elko, Nev., where they raised their four children.

Lottye was a stay-at-home mother and ran an in-home daycare, which she spoke of with pride.

She loved to cook, and help Owen make beer and wine.

After raising their kids, Lottye spent eight years alongside Owen while he drove for a trucking company. She loved traveling through the U.S. and making surprise visits to the grandkids in their big truck. They retired in Mountain Home, Idaho, in 1986.

Lottye had a great sense of humor and a strong love for animals.

Survivors include: two of her children, Tyna Cromwell of Reno, Nev., and Ted Montrose of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren Craig Redenius, Dustin Redenius, both of Reno, Nev., Gary Grasmuck of Mountain Home, Theo (Ryoko) Montrose of Carpinteria, Calif., and Stephanie (Jeremy) Propp of Boise, Idaho; great-granddaughter Zo' Propp of Boise; her dear friends, Ed "Eddy" (Janice) Wilson, and their son Jesse; and Mikiel Anne Montrose.

Lottye was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Owen Montrose, her daughters, Trudy Templin and Terry "Baby" Montrose, and her son-in-law, Kenny Cromwell.

The graveside service will be held on Friday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m., at Mountain View Cemetary in Mountain Home.

The family would like to thank Avamere Care Center for the loving and compassionate support, along with the friends and family who were there by Lottye's side through the years, and the final days of her life.
