Keeping things safe...

Greg Berry and Brian Reed from the Mountain Home Fire Department use the "jaws of life" to pry open a car door to demonstrate how the department rescues trapped passengers during a community safety fair held Saturday at the local Wal-Mart.

The free event included demonstrations, information booths and displays highlighting the services offered by city police, fire and other public safety organizations and volunteer agencies.

Adam Dinwiddie and Chad Cline from the U.S. Forest Service challenge Adam Kiemel and Ladarius McCoy to a game of tug of war -- fire department style. Using fire hoses, both groups fired water at an overhead barrel connected to a cable with the water pressure moving the barrel toward the opposing side.
