A Mountain Home woman was hospitalized Sunday after she was shot in the chest with a .45-caliber firearm, allegedly by her husband during an argument between the couple.

The husband, Matthew R. Lindstron, 29, was initially charged with aggravated battery in the case and was being held Monday in the Elmore County Jail on $50,000 bail in the alleged shooting of his wife, Sara, 34.

Mountain Home Police said they received a call of shots fired at approximately 1:22 a.m. Sunday at the couple's home in the 1800 block of Rock Road. The call was made by Matthew Lindstrom, who remained at the scene awaiting ambulance and police personnel.

Matthew Lindstrom is accused of shooting his wife early Sunday morning.

Authorities said in a prepared statement that the initial investigation "suggested" that there was an argument between the husband and wife and "during the altercation a firearm went off, striking the female in the chest."

She was transported to a Boise hospital where she was listed in stable condition Monday.

Authorities said the incident remains under investigation. No further information will be released at present.
