Cross country squad competes at Sugar City Scramble

The Mountain Home Tigers ran at the Sarcony Sugar City Scramble at the Journey's End Golf Course in Shelley last Friday. The Tiger boys finished 15th and the girls 17th.

Hillcrest of Idaho Falls won the boys competition with 80 points. Idaho Falls was second with 84, Star Valley, Wyo., third with 148, Sugar-Salem fourth with 149 and Soda Springs fifth with 150. Mountain Home finished 17th with 390 points. There were 19 teams competing.

Andy Croft led the Mountain Home runners, finishing 38th with a time of 19 minutes, 17 seconds. Anthony DeSantis came in 76th, in a time of 20:21. Jordan Klein was 97th (20:53), Josh Robinson 108th (21:09), John Goodell 168th (22:59), Riley Urquidi 194 (24:08) and Carlos Vasquez 200 (24:22).

Soda Springs won the girls race, with 54 points. Sugar-Salem finished second with 71, Idaho Falls was third with 85, Preston fourth with 151 and Mountain Home came in 17th with 505 points.

Shilo Clark and Tracey Gordon came in 114 and 115, with a time of 27:19. Andrea Dickenson was 178 (31:40), Elisabeth Stephens 199 (33:33) and Bianca Shrader 201 (33:53).

"The ninth-grade boys ran well," said Tiger cross country coach Doug Root of their first meet effort.

"It gave our runners an idea of what we need to improve in the next few weeks. We are going to hit the hills hard this week to get ready for the course at Sun Valley."
