Area air quality monitoring available

Friday, August 16, 2013

An emergency air quality monitor has been set up in Mountain Home to measure fine particulate matter (smoke) from wildfires, reports the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

DEQ will use the monitoring data to develop and post daily air quality forecasts and health advisories for the Mountain Home area on its website at www.deq.idaho.gov/daily-air-quality-reports-forecasts. (Select Mountain Home from the dropdown menu.)

To access the near real-time monitoring data, go to app.airsis.com/USFS/fleet.aspx and select Monitor "Idaho 1002" in the right column.

Air quality monitoring and forecasts for the area will continue for the duration of area fires.

Additional wildfire and health information can be found on Idaho's smoke blog at www.idsmoke.blogspot.com.
