Kathy Jefferies

On Aug. 2, 2013 Katherine Chapman Jefferies lost her courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathy was born on Dec. 7, 1950, in Vancouver, Wash., to Wayne and Ruby Chapman. She spent all of her formative years in Rigby, Idaho. She moved to Boise after graduation, where she met and married Joseph Jefferies. They had a son and a daughter that were the love of her life. She and Jeff later divorced.

Kathy worked at several jobs before coming to Idaho Independent Bank in Mountain Home, where she lived and was the manager for 35 years before retiring in 2010 to live in Kuna to be near her children and grandchildren.

She will be remembered most for her love of Christmas -- always the most beautiful trees and decorations in every room of her home and office. She was Santa to everyone and loved the holidays.

Her wonderful sense of humor and happy outlook on life made her many wonderful friends and she was loved by all!

When not at work, Kathy could be found in her beautiful yard that rivaled any park, building birdhouses, fishing or hunting with her son, or donating her time to all of the different organizations in town.

Making lifelong memories with her children and grandchildren was what she did best

She was deeply loved by everyone in her family who enjoyed her wonderful meals, Easter egg hunts, magical Christmases, and the fun she always included in every get together.

She loved being retired and cooking her children and grandchildren's favorites, and having everyone over for family dinners.

Everyone has a funny story about Kathy because she loved life and especially loved a good laugh even at your expense!

She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Fow, of Kuna, Idaho, son C.J. and wife Donia Jefferies of Nampa, Idaho, mother Ruby Chapman of Boise, sister Kris Case of Boise and brother Richard and wife Renee Chapman of Rigby, Idaho, her four grandchildren, Kasey Fow, Katie Fow, Taylor Jefferies and Tanner Jefferies. Grandma always told them "I work to spoil you rotten" and she did!

She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved their "Aunt Kathy," and an aunt and uncle Darwin and DeAnna Dinsdale, of Rigby, aunt and uncle Keith and Shirlene Chapman of Florida and numerous cousins.

A special thanks to her "adopted" daughter, Kandi Derrick, who could always make her smile, and all the wonderful friends who also brought joy to her.

Thanks to the wonderful nurses at St. Lukes Hospice that "let her do it her way" with courage and humor.

She excelled at being a loving mom, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed by everyone who loves her!

There will be no services, at Kathy's request, but if you want to honor Kathy's memory do a good deed today and make someone happy. That is what Kathy would do, and then Pay it forward again! "NOW" sit back and remember the times she made you smile!
