Debbie Shoemaker was named as the new director of the Mountain Home Museum.

Debbie Shoemaker has been named as the new director of the Mountain Home Museum.

She replaces Jamie McDaniel, who recently took a job in city hall.

Shoemaker is a former ad manager for the Mountain Home News, serving 14 years in that position, and also served nine years as executive director of the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce.

"I feel like the museum's mission is important," Shoemaker said. "It is important to tell the story of the American West and the museum has done a magnificent job."

Shoemaker noted that "history comes alive through stories told and the museum has a wonderful program called First Thursday, where local people tell their life story. The stories are then recorded and printed in books called 'Conversations with History'."

She added that "it is a great honor to be selected as director and steward of our historical treasures."

  • Congratulations Debbie. I'm confident you will be a great success with your new responsibilities and in guiding the museum into the future.
