Ed and Erika Junger at the time of their wedding 50 years ago...

Ed and Erika Junger will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary July 10.

Ed Junger and Erika Hannig were childhood friends before Ed moved with his family to the United States. Ed joined the U.S. Air Force and soon after reconnected with Erika during a trip to Germany. After a brief courtship, Ed and Erika were married on, July 10, 1963, in Berlin, Germany.

Ed and Erika became a family of three with the birth of their oldest child, Ralph, followed a couple years later by family member number four, daughter Ramona.

...and as they appear today.

Ed's military career took the Junger family all through Europe and the United States, where they eventually settled at Mountain Home Air Force Base, from which Ed retired. They still live in Mountain Home, in the same house they had built many years ago.

Ed and Erika have two grandchildren. Chelsea Junger, Ralph's daughter, is in her third year of college, pursuing a degree in nursing. Ben Lydell, Ramona's stepson, will be a sophomore this fall attending Kuna High School.

When time permits, Ed and Erika enjoy spending time together at their cabin in Pine. Erika takes pride and relaxes while working in the yard and perfecting her "absolutely beautiful flower garden." Ed enjoys spending his down time "pursuing that elusive full stringer of fish."
