'Grumpy old white guy' doesn't like what's happening to his country

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

Dear editor:

I'm just a grumpy old white guy, but am offended anyway at what's happening to America. I fully realize that in 2013, only Muslims, illegals, foreigners and minorities are allowed to be offended in a world where all Americans are villains, except when aid is needed.

There are huge double standards in this country. Nixon had to resign and his attorney general, John Mitchell, went to prison for obstruction. By contrast, watch Eric Holder slither out of this one, too, just as he did for gun-running. That offends me.

If I flew a Confederate flag from my own front porch, I'd be labeled a racist. If I objected to a foreign flag being flown on anyone else's front porch, I'd still be labeled a racist or troublemaker. That offends me as well.

Keeping a watchful eye on the class of people that produces terrorists is called "profiling," but every Democrat in existence immediately defends their administration over the IRS. I guess it's not really "profiling" as long as it's only Republicans being discriminated against. That should actually offend everybody. Might be YOU the next time around.

The Dems have never caught on that it's not left vs. right. It's government vs. YOU. But, as long as the welfare checks and those free cell phones keep coming, eh? Those who rob Peter to give to Paul, can always count on Paul's support. And Paul has no idea he's even being used. It's a slick operation and well orchestrated.

The only difference between the cotton fields and the FEMA camps is that first one was forced. This offends me too because there's been too much blood and sacrifice, for it all to come to this, 237 years later.

It offends me that this government trusts the Muslim Brotherhood with F-16's and Abrams tanks, but doesn't think an honest American should be able to own a 10-round magazine. Even if you aren't a gun owner, the message is still the same. They don't trust YOU either. Does that offend you? It should.

Under various applications, it's a felony to lie to the government, yet they lie to US all the time. Aren't they supposed to work for us? More double standards, and that offends me.

I took my Constitutional oath seriously on five different occasions, and will not adhere, respect or obey the orders of anyone who didn't. We'll give Democratic presidents the same respect the Democrats gave ours. Is that fair enough? Probably not. Respect is earned, not issued.

Finally, it offends me when those who preach to us that two wrongs don't make a right, are the very first ones to play that old "remember when" game. Corruption, item by item, is somehow justified as long as someone in the opposing party did it too, sometime in the past. Seems to me, I heard a campaign repeat chant that this regime was NOT going to be "business as usual."

I haven't seen any changes yet that I "can believe in."

And I, for one, did not commit a military career to protect and defend socialism. Grumpy old white guy or not, as a true American, where this country is headed most DEFINITELY offends me.
