Legacy Park is a real gem for city

Wednesday, May 1, 2013

Dear editor:

I thought I was going to just see my grand-daughter and a few of her friends getting their prom pictures taken at Legacy Park. Driving towards the park, there were cars parked all along the street and down the entryway, so I assumed there was a large event going on also. Getting down into the park, there was a small family picnicking in the gazebo and I guestimate 200 people were there taking pictures of their children for prom! They were everywhere, by the waterwheel, the duck pond, the trees, the waterfall, by the bridge and even picture-taking on the grassy slope! I was flabbergasted at the sight of all the girls everywhere in their long colorful dresses, boys dressed to the nines and parents, grandparents and siblings all simply enjoying the moment.

I remember when Legacy Park was just another Parks and Recreation dream. Kudus and thanks to Stan Franks and his crew for having their vision come to be as one of the most beautiful and photographic areas in Mountain Home. Also, kudos and thanks to all the organizations and volunteers who have contributed time and money towards this wonderful park..
