Harry A. Gilbert, 82, of Mountain Home, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at a Boise care center.

At his request, no services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Harry was born on Nov. 3, 1930, in Kalispell, Mont., the son of Wellington Earl and Cloral Ellen Gilbert. As a young man he started out logging in Montana.

He then moved to California, where he met and married his wife Betty, to whom he was married for 64 years. Together they raised three children.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

After the military he started a career as a carpet layer, spending some time in Las Vegas, eventually moving and retiring in Mountain Home.

Harry was an avid outdoorsman, and a member of the bass fishing club in Mountain Home.

Harry is survived by his wife, Betty, in Mountain Home, sons Rick Gilbert of Rathdrum and Gary Gilbert of Nampa, and his daughter, Trina Perez-Guerra, of Moore, Okla. He has enjoyed his 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and three sisters.
