Henrietta Ruth Acarregui, 60 of Bruneau, passed away quietly on Friday, April 26, 2013, at a Boise hospital. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, May 3, 2013, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

The first of three children, Henrietta was born in Waco, Texas, on Nov. 24, 1952, to Raymond and Paula Ashby. She spent her early years as a military kid, growing up in Texas, Washington State and British Columbia, Canada. The family was stationed in Mountain Home in 1967.

Henri attended Mountain Home High School, graduating in 1971, making many lifelong friends.

The following year, in 1972, Henri married Ross Bennett and together they had one daughter, Becky.

After a short time in Grand View, they settled in Mountain Home.

Henri and Ross would later divorce, but remained good friends, raising Becky together.

Henri worked with her father and brothers for a time. Whether it was running parts and operating heavy equipment, she fit right in and could hold her own. During this time, Henri spent time with Jay Acuff, later going their separate ways.

Henrietta went on to meet, and on her 40th birthday she married, Joe Acarregui. For the next 11 years on the Prairie, they would make memories to last a lifetime, and a million stories to share.

In 2004, Henrietta came home to Bruneau to her parent's home to live. It was an important time in Henri's life. She was eventually able to help with "Pop" when his health declined.

Henri continued to live in Bruneau with her mother. They became a team, going everywhere together. They enjoyed their place in the Owyhee Mountains, working hard to make it just right.

Henri would come to town whenever she could to see her grandsons' sport events. The three boys were her pride and gave her new reasons to laugh every day.

Recently, Henri reunited with her friend and companion, Jay, after 25 years. She was happy and it was sweet precious time in both of their lives.

Henrietta was a unique individual that people were attracted to. She was loved and liked by many and will be missed.

Henrietta is survived by her companion, Jay Acuff, daughter Becky Bennett and her companion, Matt Hiddleston, with their children, Clay and Tyler Hebert and Shane Hiddleston, a brother, Henry, and wife Linda Ashby and their family, a brother, Scott, and his sons. Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband Joe and both her parents.

Memorials in Henri's name may be sent to the Bruneau QRU, P.O. Box 294, Bruneau, Id 83604.
