Mountain Home girls' tennis team defeats Gooding squad

The Mountain Home Tiger tennis team had three matches last week, with the girls team downing Gooding.

Mountain Home hosted the Skyview Hawks in SIC 4A conference tennis last Monday, losing, 7-0, in girls action, and 6-1, in boys play at Richard Aguirre Park.

In girls singles, Kali Ireland lost the #1 match 0-6, 0-6, Stephanie Farnsworth lost the #2 match 1-6, 0-6, and Karina Guadarrama dropped the #3 match by the same score. In girls doubles, Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger lost the #1 match 0-6, 0-6, and Mary Martin and Katelyn McKenzie lost the #2 match 0-6, 1-6.

In the boys action, Mountain Home's only win came in the #1 singles match, where Timothy Austin won 6-0, 6-2. Dustin Emerson lost the #2 singles match 0-6, 2-6, and Joshua Saporta lost the #3 match 1-6, 3-6.

In boys doubles, Andy Crawford and Haydon Draper lost the #1 match in a close one, 4-6, 4-6. Andrew Turner and Danny Calvert lost the #2 match 4-6, 0-6.

In mixed doubles, Daniel Courtright and Heidi Rawlins lost the #1 match 3-6, 2-6 and Jacob Hanson and Kiana Galloway lost the #2 match 1-6, 3-6.

Mountain Home traveled to Bishop Kelly last Thursday where they got blanked by the Knights in a conference tennis match.

In girls singles, Kali Ireland lost the #1 singles match 2-6, 2-6, Stephanie Farnsworth dropped the #2 match 3-6, 4-6, and Kaitlyn Stevens lost the #3 match 1-6, 0-6.

In girls doubles, Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger battled tough but lost a three-setter, 2-6, 6-2, 6-7 (TB 8-10). Emily Gillies and Alejandra Hernandez lost the #2 match 1-6, 0-6.

In boys singles, Timothy Austin lost the #1 match 2-6, 0-6, Jared Shaw was blanked 0-6, 0-6, in the #2 match and Danny Calvert lost the #3 match 1-6, 2-6.

In boys doubles, Andy Crawford and Haydon Draper lost the #1 match 1-6, 0-6 and Andrew Turner and Joshua Saporta dropped the #2 match 2-6, 1-6.

In mixed doubles, Daniel Courtright and Heidi Rawlins lost the #1 match 1-6, 3-6 and Steven Kreyche and Brytany Minder lost the #2 match 4-6, 0-6.

Mountain Home's match with Jerome that was wiped out by bad weather on April 13 was not rescheduled, but the Tigers were able to pick up a non-conference match with Gooding at Richard Aguirre Park Saturday. The girls won and the boys lost a close one.

In girls singles, Kali Ireland and Stephanie Farnsworth both won. Ireland won the #1 singles match 6-2, 6-2 and Farnsworth won the #2 match 6-2, 6-1. Kaitlyn Stevens lost the #3 match 4-6, 1-6.

Mountain Home won both girls doubles matches, as Karina Guadarrama and Mary Martin won the #1 match 6-4, 6-0, and Emily Gillies and Alejandra Hernandez won the #2 match 7-5, 6-2.

In boys singles, Timothy Austin and Jacob Hanson both won. Austin won the #1 match in three-sets, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, and Hanson took the #2 match 6-0, 6-2. Andrew Turner dropped the #3 match 1-6, 1-6.

In boys doubles, Andy Crawford and Haydon Draper lost the #1 match 1-6, 4-6, and Marco Grajeda and Steven Kreyche battled for two and a half hours before losing the #2 match in a third set tie-break, 4-6, 6-3, 6-7.

In mixed doubles, the #2 team picked up a win, as Dalton Barker and Monica Spinazzolo won 6-0, 6-0. The #1 mixed doubles team of Daniel Courtright and Brytany Minder lost 3-6, 0-6.

Mountain Home's final two home matches are this week. The Tigers hosted Emmett on Monday, and host Caldwell for Senior Night on Thursday starting at 2 p.m. at Richard Aguirre Park.
