Track and field team wins at Nampa Invitational meet

The Mountain Home Tigers competed in two track meets last week. They won their dual with Nampa on Wednesday and also competed at the Middleton Invitational on Thursday.

At Wednesday's Mountain Home dual with Nampa, the Tigers won the girls competition 79-3 and won the boys meet 80-63.

Selena Foster and Mekena Shockley were double winners against Nampa. Foster won the pole vault and the long jump, Shockley took first in the hurdles (100m and 300m). Yuridia Ayala won the 100-meter dash, Jhorie Kelly won the 200, Heather Brononsky won the 400 meters, Natasha Feekes won the high jump, Kristen Kreutzer won the shot put and Leeann James won the discus.

Second-place efforts went to Jacci Cristobal in the hurdles (100m and 300m), Kristen Kreutzer in the discus, Leeann James in the shot put, Willow Freer in the pole vault, Echo Maas in the long jump and Kristan Jackson in the 400 meters. The 4x100-meter relay (Echo Maas, Yuridia Ayala, Alicia Reynolds and Madison Batchelor), 4x200-meter relay (Madison Batchelor, Heather Brononsky, Yuridia Ayala, and Tracey Gordon) and the medley relay (Jacci Cristobal, Yuridia Ayala, Shilo Clark and Echo Maas) also finished second.

Third-place efforts went to Jessica Wright in the 100 meters, Whitney Sandberg in the 200, Arisha Karren in the 1600 meters, Andrea Dickenson and McKenzie Sandberg in the shot put, Anna Bailey in the discus, Madison Batchelor in the pole vault and Natasha Feekes in the long jump.

Michael Daniels and Cody Boguslawski were both double winners in the boys competition. Daniels won the long jump and triple jump. Boguslawski won the shot put and discus. Devin Wright won the 110-meter high hurdles, Chris Smith won the high jump, and Ryan Eckstrom won the pole vault. Mountain Home also won the 4x400-meter relay (Will Weygint, Connor Weygint, Pete Ramadan and Isaac Keown) and medley relay (Pete Ramadan, Brandon Reyes, Isaac Keown and Abraham Salas).

Malik Whitfield finished second in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Jake Schaefer had seconds in the 400 meters and the long jump. Other second-place finishes went to Tucker Holland in the long jump, Taylor Ogaard in the pole vault, Eric Reetz in the 300-meter hurdles, Dallin Dearing in the shot put, and Jett Cristobal in the triple jump. Mountain Home also finished second in the 4x100-meter relay (Ethan McClellan, Johnathan Deese, Tanner Sessions and Chance Llewellyn) and the 4x200-meter relay (Johnathan Deese, Tanner Sessions, Chance Llewellyn and Ethan McClellan).

Third-place efforts went to Bryce Coles in the 400 meters, Abraham Salas in the 800, Connor Weygint in the 110-meter high hurdles, Devin Wright in the 300-meter hurdles, Jose Ortiz in the shot put, Taylor Simpson in the long jump and Tucker Holland in the triple jump.

Thursday's invitational at Middleton had 16 teams. Mountain Home finished second in the girls competition, 11 points behind Middleton.

Ashley Harmon won the 100-meter dash and Jhorie Kelly took first in the 100-meter high hurdles. Both were on the Mountain Home 4x200-meter relay team (along with Olivia Ostberg and Whitney Sandberg) that took first.

Selena Foster finished second in the triple jump and third in the pole vault. Other third-place efforts went to Marissa Streeter in the long jump and Leeann James in the discus. The Mountain Home medley relay team of Ashley harmon, McKenzie Sandberg, Olivia Ostberg and Marissa Streeter also finished third.

Whitney Sandberg had a fourth-place effort in the 100 meters. Kristen Kreutzer had a fifth in the discus and sixth in the shot put. Arisha Karren was sixth in the 1600-meter run, Olivia Ostberg was sixth in the 200 and Jhorie Kelly was sixth in the triple jump. Marissa Streeter was seventh in the 200 meters, Makena Shockley was seventh in the 100-meter high hurdles and Jacci Cristobal was eighth in the 100 meter high hurdles.

Mountain Home finished fourth in the boys competition at Middleton, behind Fruitland, Middleton, and Gooding. Michael Daniels had Mountain Home's only first-place effort in the boys' triple jump.

Mountain Home's 4x200-meter relay team of Johnathan Deese, Tanner Sessions, Chance Llewellyn and Ethan McClellan finished third.

Fourth-place efforts went to Malik Whitfield in the 100 meters, Devin Wright in the 300-meter hurdles, and Cody Boguslawski in the discus.

Fifth-place efforts went to Eric Reetz in the 300-meter hurdles, Ryan Eckstrom in the pole vault, Michael Daniels in the long jump, the Mountain Home 4x100-meter relay (Ethan McClellan, Johnathan Deese, Tanner Sessions and Chance Llewellyn) team and the medley relay team (Pete Ramadan, Brandon Reyes, Isaac Keown, and Jake Schaefer).

Andy Croft finished sixth in the 3200-meter run, and seventh-place efforts went to Nick Garza in the 100 meters, Abraham Salas in the 400 meters and Ryan Eckstrom in the 100-meter high hurdles.

"Thursday's meet was very competitive, with 16 teams ranging from 4A to 1A," said Tigers coach Rich Urquidi. "Our girls were second, 11 points behind Middleton, without fielding a full team. We're a little banged up and have some girls sitting out a couple of weeks."

Mountain Home is at Columbia on Thursday for a tri-meet with Columbia and Skyview.
