After weather cancellations, Tigers lose to Skyview

Thursday, April 25, 2013

Bad weather wiped out two of Mountain Home's three games they had scheduled last week. Their non-conference game last Tuesday at Jerome was suspended with Jerome batting in the bottom of the second inning, leading 2-0, when a snow storm hit.

That game was to be continued Tuesday when the two teams met in Mountain Home, with the continuation game starting at 3:30 p.m. Rain caused Friday's home game against Middleton to be postponed until May 1.

The Tigers did have good weather for their conference game at Skyview on Thursday, which was won by the Hawks, 6-3.

Mountain Home spotted the Hawks five runs before they got on the scoreboard in the fourth. Down 6-1 after six, the Tigers struck for two runs and left the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, losing 6-3.

"I honestly think our guys came out here today thinking they were going to lose the baseball game or something, because we came out really flat," said Tigers head coach Mark Cotton after the game. "They played with zero passion, and once they realized that they were in the ball game, they can compete with anyone, like we did against BK last week, and once they started to believe that, we started playing some good baseball. We've got to be more consistent as far as our mental approach to the game, and then make mental adjustments earlier in the game offensively."

Skylar Quintal and Zach Petersen had RBI singles and Danny Brescia, Jesse Cobos and Teddy Reaume also had hits.

Zach Petersen suffered the loss to drop to 3-3. Levi Abrahamson pitched four quality innings of relief for the Tigers.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 4-9 in conference and 7-10 overall.

Mountain Home had two games with Jerome on Tuesday, and travel to Columbia on Thursday, April 25, for a conference game with the Wildcats.

They close out their regular season schedule next week, with home games on Tuesday against Caldwell and May 1 against Middleton.
