Mountain Home tennis team loses to Kuna, Columbia

Mountain Home dropped conference tennis matches to Kuna and Columbia last week.

The Tigers hosted Kuna last Monday at the Richard Aguirre Park tennis courts and lost to the Kavemen 6-1, 6-1, in both the girls and boys matches.

Mountain Home's only win came in the mixed doubles #2 match, where where Marco Grajeda and Tessa Pachner won due to an injury default by the Kuna #2 team.

"Our doubles team lost the first set, 4-6, but came back strong in the second set, and was up 4-1 when the Kuna opponents medically retired, thus giving the individual win to the Tigers," said Mountain Home Tigers Tennis Coach Tamzy House.

Timothy Austin and Emma Wenger lost the #1 mixed doubles match 0-6, 3-6.

In girls singles, Stephanie Farnsworth lost the #1 singles match 1-6, 0-6; Kali Ireland dropped the #2 match,1-6, 7-5, 1-6, and Kaitlyn Stevens lost the #3 match 1-6, 0-6.

In girls doubles, Brytany Minder and Mary Martin lost the #1 doubles match 0-6, 2-6, and Emily Gillies and Katelyn McKenzie lost the #2 match 2-6,0-6.

In boys singles, Brad Foreman dropped the #1 match 4-6, 6-3, 2-5 (medically retired). Daniel Courtright lost the #2 match 1-6, 3-6, and Dustin Emerson lost the #3 match 4-6, 4-6.

In boys doubles, Andrew Turner and Joshua Saporta lost the #1 match 1-6, 1-6, and Danny Calvert and Joey McCullough lost the #2 match in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 2-6.

The Tigers dropped both their girls and boys matches at Columbia High School in Nampa last Thursday.

Karina Guadarrama picked up Mountain Home's only win, downing her #3 girls singles opponent 7-5, 6-1. Kali Ireland lost the #1 singles match 1-6, 2-6, and Stephanie Farnsworth lost the #2 match 3-6, 3-6.

In girls doubles, Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger came up short in the #1 match, 4-6, 6-7 (TB 1), and Emily Gillies and Alejandra Hernandez were blanked in the #2 match, 0-6, 0-6.

In boys singles, Timothy Austin dropped the #1 singles match 1-6, 4-6; Jared Shaw lost the #2 singles match 0-6, 2-6, and Marco Grajeda lost the #3 match 1-6, 0-6.

In boys doubles, Andy Crawford and Haydon Draper lost the #1 match 0-6, 0-6, and Steven Kreyche and Joey McCullough lost the #2 match 1-6, 0-6.

In mixed doubles, Heidi Rawlins and Daniel Courtright lost the #1 match 3-6, 1-6, and Kaitlyn Stevens and Danny Calvert lost the #2 match 1-6, 1-6.

Mountain Home's scheduled match Saturday at Jerome was postponed because of bad weather. It has tentatively been reset for this Saturday.

Mountain Home was home against Skyview on Monday. They travel to Bishop Kelly on Thursday, April 18. Next week, the Tigers are home on April 22 against Emmett, and home against Caldwell on April 25 for Senior Night.
