Carol Ann Wood passed away on April 11, 2013, at the age of 69, in Boise, with her family by her side.

Carol was born June 24, 1943, in Watertown, N.Y., to John and Eileen Briggs.

At an early age, Carol's mother died and she was adopted by grandparents George and Agnes Briggs of Watertown, N.Y. Carol attended, and graduated from Immaculate Heart Catholic School in Watertown, N.Y. Carol later attended business school in Clayton, N.Y., where she learned bookkeeping and secretarial skills.

While living with her sister, Carol met her soul mate, Donald Wood, at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire. They met in 1963 and married April 11, 1964. To this union, two children, Jim and Patti, were born.

In the years they were married, Don and Carol lived in North Carolina, Georgia, North Dakota, South Carolina, England and then Mountain Home, where they both retired.

Carol was employed as a bookkeeper, as an Avon saleslady, at Mountain Home Air Force Base and Deb's Shoes. But her favorite years came when she worked as a Deputy Assessor at the Elmore County Courthouse in Mountain Home. It is there she made a career and met some of her closest friends.

Carol was a loving wife, mother and a genuinely caring person. She always made time for everyone and especially those in need of help.

Carol loved word games, reading, gardening and keeping her house clean and tidy. She frequently cleaned houses for friends and relatives who were unable to do so themselves.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eileen Briggs, grandparents George and Agnes Briggs, grandmother Florence Beattie and grandson Ryder.

She is survived by her husband, Don Wood, sister Jean Miner, children Jim Wood and Patti Cash, grandchildren David Wood, Ty McRae, Caitlyn Wood and many, many friends, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Donations to a charity of choice, or the American Cancer Society, may be donated in Carol's name.
