Mary Ellen Heath Owings

Mary Ellen Heath Owings, 86, a resident of Gooding, formerly of Glenns Ferry, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 in Twin Falls.

Mary Ellen was born Oct. 28, 1926, in King Hill, Idaho, to Edwin D. and Sylvia L. Hitesman Heath. She was raised and educated in King Hill graduating from High School.

Mary Ellen married Tom Owings in May of 1946 in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. They were blessed with 4 children. She later married Bob McCarthy.

Mary Ellen was a cook for Union Pacific Railroad, and owned and operated an upholstery shop in Gooding.

Mary Ellen is survived by 2 sons, Sam William Owings, of Blue River, Oregon; and Thomas Dee Owings, of Glenns Ferry, Idaho; 1 daughter, Carla Gaye Darrow, of Boardman, Oregon; 7 sisters, Vera Wylie, Rosalie Heath, Mabel Fletcher, Margie Anderson, Joan Anderson, Hazel Nutsch, and Becky Heath Anderson; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands; 1 daughter, Kay Lynn Robirts; 1 grandson; 5 brothers; 1 sister; and 1 daughter-in-law.

A memorial service were held Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Glenns Ferry. Inurnment followed at Glenn Rest Cemetery.
