Cancer benefit slated for Nov. 3

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

The Third Annual Danni Gilbert/Joy Memmelaar "Give Cancer the Boot" Fun Run, Jog, Walk or Crawl will begin at 9 a.m. Nov. 3 at Legacy Park.

The event is named after two Mountain Home High School teachers who died of cancer. This year, the fundraiser will be used to help two cancer victims associated with the school district -- MHHS senior Kadie Summer and MHJHS parent volunteers the Dean family.

Entry forms are available at any of the schools and those received by Oct. 25 will receive T-shirts on race day. The cost to participate is $10 without a T-shirt and $20 with a T-shirt.

There will be a number of age categories for runners. Children six and under, who may be accompanied by an adult, will run a quarter mile beginning at 10 a.m.

Those ages 7 and 8 will run a half mile beginning at 10:10 a.m.

Youths ages 9 and 10 will run a full mile, beginning at 10:35 a.m., and those ages 11 to 13 will run 1.5 miles, beginning at 10:40 a.m.

Anyone age 14 or older will participate in the 5K (3.1 mile) run. Five divisions are available -- 14-18, 19-25, 26-35, 36-50 and 51 or older.
