Alejandro "Carnovas" Garza, 74, passed away on Sept. 28, 2012, in the comfort of his home with his family by his side, after a short battle with cancer.

No services are planned at this time. Alex will be put to rest next to his mother, Lucia, in Las Yescas, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Alex was born March 27, 1938, in Lozano, Texas, to Alfonzo Garza and Lucia Moreno Garza.

On July 23, 1960 in Brownsville, Texas, Alex married Guadalupe Lopez and began his journey as a devout husband, father and a migrant worker, working in various parts of Texas and Idaho. Alex then settled his family in what he called home, Mountain Home, where he saw his six children grow and start their own families. He later retired from farm work.

Alex enjoyed fishing, gardening, a hot cup of coffee and raising his chickens and roosters. He often took his kids and later his grandkids for trips to his favorite fishing holes.

Alex was loved by all. His shining eyes always brought a smile to those that saw his spirit in them. He made few friends and those fortunate enough got to see the true friend in Alex.

Alex is preceded in death by his parents, his son Alfonso "Fonz" Garza, granddaughter Kaelyn R. Garza, four brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Garza, of Mountain Home, daughters Maria (Walter) Reynolds of Meridian, Nora Lee Rosales and Sonia Garza, both of Mountain Home, daughter-in-law Deloris Mayger Garza of San Antonio, Texas and sons Juan (Erika) Garza of Mountain Home and Eugenio "Gino" Garza of Boise and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alex's family would like to thank the staff of Horizon Home Health and Hospice for making his time at home a comfortable one. Our sincere gratitude to family and friends, especially to DC Engineering, for their contribution in our time of need.
