Tiger boys crush Kavemen, Lady Tigers falter on field

Friday, September 7, 2012

The Mountain Home boys excelled while the Lady Tigers stumbled as this year's soccer seasons continued last week.

The Mountain Home Tigers downed the Kuna Kavemen, 3-1, Thursday in SIC 4A boys soccer at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.

Juan Sanchez, Brandon Zacharias and Abraham Salinas each scored goals. Fernando Martinez had an assist. Meanwhile, Jack Richelieu had 11 saves on goal.

"It was a great win," said Tiger boys head soccer coach Jay Lockett. "We finally come together and everything worked perfectly -- well, as well as could be expected."

"It's just great to see them coming together and playing like they're supposed to be playing and as the games go on we're just going to get better and better," added assistant coach Tre Baham.

The win improved the Tigers to 2-2-1 on the season.

Mountain Home has a busy schedule coming up. They hosted Middleton on Tuesday and travel to Emmett on Thursday, Sept. 6, before they host Columbia on Saturday and Nampa on Monday.

In Lady Tigers' action, the Mountain Home girls dropped a 9-1 conference soccer game at Kuna on Aug. 29.

Missy Jessup scored Mountain Home's goal. Venessa Estrella had 22 saves on goal for the Lady Tigers as goalkeeper.

The loss dropped Mountain Home to 0-5 on the season.

The Lady Tigers have a busy week of soccer coming up. They played at Middleton on Tuesday, host Emmett today, Sept. 5, before they travel to Columbia on Saturday and play at Nampa on Tuesday.
