Isel Winters

Isel Ada Miller Winters, 94, of Mountain Home, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.

Per her request, no services will be held. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Isel was born on Oct. 12, 1917, in Donovan, Ill., the daughter of Don and Birdie Miller.

Isel graduated from Donovan High School in 1935. She then went to business school in Waukegan, Ill.

She worked on the WPA for two years. She then worked at Radio Condenser Factory in Watseka, Ill., for 14 months.

She was then called to work at Chanute Air Force Base. Prior to becoming an Air Force base, it was an Army Base. A year later, she was transferred to Limestone Air Force Base in Caribou, Ma., with her new Air Force husband, MSgt. Edlow Winters. She and her new husband were transferred to Chanute Air Force Base, then on to Nouasseur Air Base in Morocco for two and a half years. They were then transferred to Larson Air Force Base. Ed retired there.

They then returned to Illinois where Isel retired at Chanute Air Force Base. Altogether, Isel had 36 years of civil service. They were called to work together at Mountain Home Air Force Base.

Isel loved to take photos, collect rocks and fish. She came from a family of 11 brother and sisters, of which she was the oldest.

Isel is survived by her brothers and sisters: Ethel Tippie, Marilyn Lucas, Wayne, Al and Robert Miller

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edlow Winters, brothers and sisters Jimmy, David, Donald and Florence Miller, and her parents, Don and Birdie Miller.
