Wrestler places at national event

A pee wee wrestler preparing to start classes at Hacker Middle School recently finished fifth overall during a national wrestling championship held last month.

Trever Dockstader earned the title during USA Wrestling's yearly tournament, which ran from June 25 to 28 in Orem, Utah.

The title was the third one he'd earned within a two-week period. During the western regional event held in Pocatello from June 17 to 23, Dockstader claimed a fifth-place title in greco-style wrestling and a six-place award in the freestyle event.

Dockstader's interest in wrestling started during first grade when he joined the littleman wrestling team through the city's parks and recreation department. His interest led him to a spot on the community's Mountain Man Wrestling squad.

After the local squad disbanded, the pee wee wrestler continued to hone his skills six months out of the year, according to his father, Travis Dockstader. His athletic regimen includes four days of training each week followed by two days of competition during various tournaments across southern Idaho.
