The portable ham radio station set up at Legacy Park last month was able to reach operators across the Western Pacific region with the farthest signals connecting to places in Michigan and Indiana.
The emergency service demonstration at Legacy Park culminated the American Radio Relay League's a week-long amateur radio week event.

It's good to have this in the news. So many times us ham operators get negative attention because of antennas, high power, etc. The country needs to know that we are here to help in an emergency to relay message traffic for fire,police, and military if needed.Most of us hams can operate without 120 volt electrical power as we are battery and solar powered.
