Local fire danger at "extreme" level

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Due to the high fire danger risk in the local area, fire officials raised the fire level to its highest point Thursday afternoon.

With the fire danger rising to the "extreme" level, open burning is now prohibited within the city limits of Mountain Home and Glenns Ferry as well as within the Mountain Home Rural Fire District.

City fire officials will no longer issue burn permits until the extreme fire danger passes.

The increased fire risk comes just three days after a range fire caused as estimated half million dollars in damage, including the loss of six homes on the southwest side of Mountain Home.

For information will appear in the June 27 edition of the Mountain Home News.
