Memorial service planned for former state representative

The Mountain Home community will pause to honor the memory of a former state representative from Mountain Home who passed away this week.

A memorial and celebration of the life of Karl E. Koch Sr. will start at 11 a.m. Friday at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. An inurnment will follow with military honors at Mountain View Cemetery.

Born and raised in Hammett, he graduated from Hammett High School and went on to attend Boise Junior College where he played football in 1937. He later graduated from the University of Idaho.

Koch went on to serve in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After his military service, he owned and operated Koch Lumber Company in Hammett until his retirement in 1983.

Koch served in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1965 to 1972 before he was reelected for another two-year term from 1975 to 1976.
