For many of the younger people in the Mountain Home community, it's not just a mantra. It's a way of life -- a personal desire to overcome the seemingly impossible.

In the end, they hope to soar.

Andy Slover demonstrates an ollie in which people propel themselves -- and their board -- upward without the use of a ramp.

That chance returned Saturday as 25 amateur skateboard enthusiasts from Mountain Home and surrounding communities packed into Richard Aguirre Park for a chance to test their mettle during a yearly competition. Celebrating is third year here, the Open Soar skate competition also gave these teens a chance to claim some bragging rights.
