A fire crew from the Mountain Home Fire Department extinguishes hot spots following a brush fire that ignited dry vegetation at the corner of Canyon Creek Road and Northwest Merlot Drive on Friday.

According to city fire officials, a controlled burn quickly got out of hand before it scorched approximately two acres of land next to a residential subdivision.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the empty lot.
