Teen golfer qualifies for state

Thursday, May 17, 2012

The Mountain Home Tiger boys golf team placed sixth at last week's District III 4A golf tournament. The sixth-place effort kept them from qualifying for state as a team, but Brent Sexauer qualified for the yearly event.

Columbia won the boys district tournament, shooting a 305 team score, besting Bishop Kelly by four strokes. Middleton was four shots back of Bishop Kelly with a 313, Caldwell came in with a 317, Skyview shot a 328, Mountain Home carded a 343, Emmett had 348, Nampa had 356 and Kuna finished with 404.

Brent Sexauer led Mountain Home by shooting a 75, good for seventh place and a seat at state. Andrew Curtis and Jake Egusquiza both shot an 86 and Clint Butori came in with a 96.

The State 4A Golf Tourney was held Monday and Tuesday in Blackfoot.
