Preparing for 'Poppy season'

Mayor Tom Rist buys a handful of poppies from Kathy Wuduka with American Legion Post 26 Auxiliary as unit president Ginger de la Motte and Carol Oalton participate in the presentation event last week.

During the meeting, the mayor signed a proclamation declaring Saturday as Poppy Day in Mountain Home.

The American Legion auxiliary will accept donations from local residents that day as they offer the flowers at the local Albertson's, D&B Supply and Wal-Mart. Donations from these fundraisers benefit disabled and hospitalized military veterans while providing funds for the Legion's scholarship program in local area schools.
