"On the girl's side, our field events shined early," said Mountain Home Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi. "We went 1, 2, 3, 4 in the long jump and 1, 2, 3 in the triple jump. The throwers went 1, 3, 4 in the discus and 2, 3, 4, 6 in the shot. The girls had a great balance of scoring between our returning athletes and our new athletes.

"We saw we have some work to do in the relays, as Middleton won all four relays. If we split the relays, we lose 74-72, same as the boys, which looks better than 84-62. The girls had 19 district qualifying marks in the first meet."

Middleton edged the Mountain Home boys 72-70 in the boys competition.

Michael Daniels won the 200-meter dash and triple jump and finished third in the long jump.

Chaise Hopkins won the 300-meter hurdles and long jump, was a member of the 4x100-meter relay that finished first, and a member of the 4x200-meter relay that finished second.

J.T. Cristobal won the 100-meter dash, was a member of the 4x100- and 1,600-meter sprint medley relays that won, and also was on the 4x400-meter relay that finished second.

Tyler Knauth won the 800-meter run, was a member of the medley relay and also on the 4x400-meter relay team.

Michael Price won the 3,200-meter run, was second in the 1,600-meters, and was also on the 4x400-meter relay team.

Justin Johnson won the pole vault.

Juan Silva was second in the 100-meters and a member of the winning 4x100-meter relay team.

Luke Filipovich was second in the triple jump and third in the high jump and Eric Reetz was second in the 300-meter hurdles.

Nick Garza was third in the 100-meters and was also on the winning 4x100-meter and medley relay teams, and also was a member of the 4x200-meter relay team that finished second.

Jorge Salinas, Malik Whitfield and Cory Pinque were also members of the 4x200-meter relay team.

"We saw some promising things on the boys side," said Coach Urquidi. "Our sprints looked sharp, and we went one though six in the 100 meters.

"Just like the girls, our jumps were solid. The boys went 1, 2, 3, 4 in the triple jump, and in the long jump, almost went 1 through 7, only giving up the 2 spot. The boys split the relays and only lost the meet by two points."

Mountain Home was at Skyview on Tuesday for a meet with the Hawks and Emmett. The Tiger thinclads will take spring break off, returning to action April 6 when they host Emmett and Caldwell.
