Despite range fires, mild winter had minimal impact on local deer herds

A generally mild winter had a minimal impact on deer herds in Elmore County with Fish and Game officials noting a drop in mortality rates in these herds.

Concerns over high mortality rates in the local deer population were raised after wildfires last summer destroyed a large portion of critical winter feeding grounds.
