A Mountain Home High School graduate and two-time state softball player of the year award winner earned her second consecutive pitcher of the week title.

Nickayla Skinner, who recently started her sophomore year at the College of Idaho in Caldwell, won the Red Lion Cascade Conference's Softball Pitcher award after she led the Lady 'Yotes to wins over Concordia, Simpson College and William Jessup.

Held during the Simpson Invitational Tourney in Redding, Calif., Skinner allowed just four hits and struck out 13 against Concordia. She then tossed a two-hitter against Simpson while limiting William Jessup to just four hits in a shutout win.

Earlier this month, Skinner went 2-0 with a save during three appearances for the C of I at the Northwest Cup in Oregon. She struck out 13 batters in the rain during a 2-1 win over Whitworth on Feb. 17. The next day, she injured her ankle against British Columbia but returned in relief on Feb. 19 to toss a scoreless inning to earn a save against Lewis & Clark then threw a scoreless seventh inning against Willamette to pick up a win.

Skinner improved her record to 5-0 on the season with a complete 7-4 win over Dickinson State.
